Fixed Expansion Appliances
We offer a wide of expansion appliances to help aid in the arch development of a patient. Depending on what application and forces are necessary, our variety of expanders can assist you in achieving correction for cross-bites, anterior/posterior crowding, and increasing the arch width and length. With all of our appliances you can also incorporate supplementary attachments such as habit devices, class III face mask hooks, headgear tubes, and arch wire tubes.
All of ODL's expansion appliances utilize the newest technologies. Our standard RPE's have a gold screw which prevents backspin which is seen in most other screws. We also offer an upgrade on our RPE's which is the Snap-Lok feature.
Snap Lock Expander
The new Snap Lock Expander offered by Orthodent Lab allows palatal expansions to be carried out more easily and effectively. The expander does not unwind automatically thanks to a built-in safety mechanism. This mechanism makes sure that the flat spring puts pressure on the eccentric spindle. This makes the spindle snap into an ideal position for reactivation and locks it against unwinding. Reactivation can only be done by using a specific key. Both patient and clinician will be able to feel how the flat spring snaps in when activating. Consequently, they know the exact position of the spindle. Ultimately, activating the spindle is also a lot easier for the patient as the holes in the spindle are always in the same position, so reactivation is efficient, simple and safe. In case of overactivation, the spindle can be turned back without problems.
Nitanium Palatal Expander
The easy to use Nitanium® Palatal Expander2TM takes expansion a step beyond. This expansion appliance has the capacity to rotate, upright, distalize and expand anterior and posterior. The Nitanium® Palatal Expander2TM action is the result of transition temperature and shape memory. Warmth from the patient’s mouth activates movement in the thermal nickel titanium energy wire toward the appliance’s pre-programmed shape, producing the desired expansion and in unison tooth movement. Once exact correction is achieved, the appliance stops expanding and lies passive.
