Class II Functional Appliances
ODL offers multiple appliances to aid in the correction of Class II cases. All applications perform a function by advancing the mandible forward.
Twin Block: The Twin Block is a removable appliance that utilizes acrylic blocks formed in conjunction to pull the mandible forward. Our standard TB incorporates an upper midline screw also. The phase II helps retain the bite until the bicuspids have erupted into the occlusion and posterior contact is established.
Note: When sending a Twin Block case, please be sure to provide accurate models and a bite registration to aid in accuracy.
Herbst Appliance: The herbst appliance provides exceptional function in class II correction. The appliance repositions the mandible forward to allow for the adaptation in the muscular, skeletal and dental components utilizing a tube and plunger component on the buccal. The herbst is also recommended for those difficult patients who have compliance issues with removable appliances. We offer many types of Herbst appliances, including the popular Hanks Telescoping Herbst. With the Herbst you can incorporate other auxiliary parts such as an RPE, TPA, rests, buccal tubes, and springs.
Note: When sending a Herbst case, please be sure to provide accurate models and a bite registration to aid in accuracy.
