When sending an impression or a work model, please follow the steps below. In both shipping cases, please fill out the script as thoroughly as possible to help with proper design fabrication.

When sending a functional case such as a herbst, splint, twin block, sleep apnea appliance, etc… make sure to include a bite registration to ensure proper fitment, this is especially important with pull forward appliances.

When sending an impression:

  • Please verify that the impression in free of defects and “pinching” around the teeth to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Make sure that each impression is fully disinfected before shipping to ODL.
  • Please make sure that each impression is wrapped in a moist paper towel or packed with moist cotton strips to preserve the material and then packed in a plastic bag to retain moisture.
  • Note: During the winter time here in Buffalo, it gets very cold and from time to time the impression material may freeze. If you feel that this may affect your impressions, we recommend that that you dip the impression in windshield washer solution to inhibit freezing.

When sending a work model:

  • Please make sure arch wire was removed when talking the impression if you require the lab to carve the brackets off the teeth. This will insure a more accurate model. If this is the case, we prefer the model is made in plaster and not stone.
  • Please verify that the models are free from distortion and imperfections that will affect the fit of the appliance. If there is a problem that we notice, the lab will call to request a new model.
  • Make sure that the models are well packed, since there are occasions when shipping can cause teeth to break very easily. Please use the packing materials that ODL provides. If you need more packing material please request this calling the lab or sending a message via the contact page.
